
Lucinda Bristow

Lucinda Bristow is the founder of Sussex Vocal Academy and for the past 4 yrs has been teaching full-time in schools and privately around the Sussex area after graduating from BIMM with a BTEC Professional Development Certificate in Modern Commercial Music and a Higher Diploma in Modern Music. Lucinda is very bubbly and easy to get on with, she is a hardworking person so has taken on the opportunity and thrived on the challenge to work with people of all ages and abilities to develop their skills and talents. Lucinda also sings lead in a function band and sings b.v's and plays sax for a second band, both of which gig nationally. She also does a fair amount of session work which has lead to opportunities to work alongside highly regarded artistes including Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne, Carleen Anderson (Brand New Heavies), Pitchshifter, Billy Godfrey, Julian Deane (Toploader), Liberty X, Jason Knight (Reef) and Ace (Skunk Anansie).
Lucinda: "I absolutely love teaching, it's really rewarding when I see one of my students get up on stage for the first time and sing or when they start noticing for themselves that they actually are improving as singers! I also feel it's quite important as a teacher to still be going out and doing gigs and session work myself, it seems to give students more confidence in me as a singer and teacher"

Sam Black

Sam Black has been singing for 10 years having had a childhood filled with dancing and musical theatre. Her weekends were spent at a stage school where she discovered her true path was singing and music. Having completed singing exams to Grade 6 standard by the age of 16, Sam then studied at Brighton Institute of Modern Music for 4 years, finally graduating with a Degree in Professional Musicianship by the age of 20. Over her years at college, Sam has gained a huge variety of experience. This has included performances in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and work alongside a variety of artists including Cliff Richard, Gabrielle, Stomp, Peter Karrie and Liberty X. Her achievements in music have also been accompanied by work in Television and Modelling. Whilst teaching part-time for Sussex Vocal Academy Sam is also the lead singer of her Brighton based functions band Black & Gold. Sam is hugely passionate about singing and thoroughly enjoys passing her experience on to fresh, new singers.

Marianne Robinson

Marianne Robinson discovered her love for singing and performing at the age of 6 and began having vocal lessons at 7 years old to develop her natural skill. After completing her grade 8 singing exam she decided to further her knowledge of singing by attending the Brighton Institute of Modern Music where she has completed a Professional Diploma in Modern Music and is at present studying towards a BA degree in Professional Musicianship. Marianne also studied at LIPA 4:19 and at the National Youth Music Theatre and has had years of experience singing in theatre, lead vocals in various function bands and as a solo performer around the country. She is at present a member of a girl group called 'Vogue', a 4 part harmony soul/rock band. Marianne has worked alongside artists such as Ashley Slater (Freakpower), Ace (Skunk Anansie), Kate Cameron (Norman Cook) Jason Knight (Reef), Jake Shillingford (My Life Story) and Martin Wright (Beverly Knight, Natalie Imbruglia). Marianne is a friendly and easy going person with a passion for passing on her knowledge of singing to others, to help develop their voice in a way that suits each individual. Marianne: �I'm so grateful to my own singing teachers for their help in getting me to where I am today, its made me want to help others achieve their own goals too. I love getting to know a person's voice and together we can develop and experiment with it to bring out this great sound that they may not have known was there. There is nothing more rewarding.�

Lisa Wadham

Lisa Wadham is an emerging vocal talent whose awesome voice has already wowed audiences across the country. She has fronted jazz ensembles, toured with function bands for weddings, private parties and corporate events and will soon be showcasing her own innovative material. Lisa's versatility and flexibility have also made her a hot choice for session work, both live and in the studio. Hailing from the South of England, Lisa has trained at music colleges in both Chichester and Brighton, where she currently lives.
Lisa has had the privilege of playing and recording with many top musicians and bands, including: Liberty X, Reef, The Brand New Heavies, G4 and Cinematic Orchestra.
Chip Jenkins

Chip Jenkins has been a working singer for 20 years and a singing teacher for 10 years working with beginners to advanced students. Her youngest student is 8, her eldest is well into their 70's! She teaches talented vocal students at Chichester University and the Brighton Institute of Modern Music and worked for nine years at The Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. She is fully CRB checked. Chip teaches singers who are serious and passionate about getting the most out of their voice and being onstage. Whether you are in music for the love of it, or because you want to make it in the industry, Chip has been teaching for 10 years, and has a multitude of tools to increase your knowledge and singing ability. Do you want to come & sing your heart out, while understanding how your larynx works, why your voice benefits from supported singing, how posture can affect your sound and how to get the most out of your mic? All lessons happen in Saltean East Sussex in a designated music room with mic, keyboard and simple mac recording facilities. Parents are welcome to accompany their children to ensure that they practise in between lessons and get the most out of the teaching!
Sarah

Sarah had a passion for singing ever since she can remember and started to take it serious through taking lessons during her teens. From then on, her vocal repertoire covered a wide range of style and different contexts of performance. She worked with different musicians and bands in Germany and sang at a big youth festival in the north of Germany in 2005. She then moved to the U.K. where she got involved in the British music scene mostly through studying music at Chichester University. She has currently completed her foundation degree in Instrumental and Vocal Music Teaching and will start her final year of Music this summer. Her passion for singing has always encouraged her to teach, as she loves to share her passion with others. She would like her students to develop a lifelong passion for music and develop their own voice in confidence.
